In 1945 the story of the Borough of Romford's war could be told. Extracted from the files of local newspapers and of classified documents here is a record of all the 'incidents' that took place during six years of war, including attacks by bombs, incendiary bombs, land mines, rockets, ack-ack artillery that went astray and crashing aircraft from both sides of the conflict. Pictures of bomb damage and of dangers being tackled bring home the realities of life on the front line.

The book is now re-issued, with extra material, to remember with gratitude the ordinary people of Romford who lived and died in World War Two.1
