In the centre of the photograph, making a speech before the plaque is unveiled, is Frederick Rowswell, Scout Master at St. Michael's from 1933 to 1968. Behind him is the then Scout Master, Allen Matthews, and next to him the Rev. Canon Frank Leech, vicar of St. Michael's from 1958 until 1981.1 The other clergyman, to the left of the photo, is the Rev. John Occomore (?), honary curate, and former headmaster of a school in Hornchurch. Next to him is Will Archer, the Area Commissioner and pre-war Assistant Scout Master of the Group.
This photograph was kindly provded by Frederick Rowswell's neice, Cherry Forrary, and the information comes from notes that Frederick Rowswell wrote on the back of the photo.
