| The Odeon cinema, on the corner of South Street and Havana Close, in 1979.1 You can also see a view of the interior of the cinema at about the same time. |
The cinema was opened as the Havana on 29th January 1936.2 It became the Odeon in 1949.3
The cinema closed a few years ago when a new Odeon cinema opened in the Liberty 2 shopping centre. After its closure it remained largely empty, except for a dance school and a temporary Laserquest venture. However its owners, Rank, have now converted the huge building into two new night clubs, Time & Envy.3 Step forward in time to see this same view in January 2000.
