The photograph was taken somewhere near Colchester (by the looks of it, somewhere on the coast), but at least one of the women - Clarice HERBERT, seated in the middle - came from Romford.  As a girl Clarice lived in Cromer Road, and then in Sheringham Gardens when she married Gerald COWEN.  She and her husband later emigrated to Australia.

The photograph was kindly provided by Clarice's neice, Marsha Garland (Gerald Cowen was her father's youngest brother).
