Note the Anderson shelter in No. 30 next door. Bill writes:
Our shelter - or at least the bottom - is still there. My dad built a garage over the site it sat on after it was pulled down and used it as a pit to work on our car. Funnily enough the last time Brother George was over there he went to the house and met the people who now own it. They asked why part of the floor was made of timber and he told them it was a pit - after all those years nobody had thought to look under boards.
I still have my old Banjo. My dad bought it secondhand for me when i was about six and it was old then, so it must be well over sixty years old now but still has the original Velum on it.
