The CLAYDON family were originally from White Roding in Essex.
The earliest being traced is a James, born about 1765, location unknown. James married Sarah PARKIN at White Roding in 1785. They were my 5x great grandparents. James and Sarah had ten children all born in the area.
Samuel, son of James and Sarah, my 4x great grandfather, was born in 1802. He married Ann JUDD in White Roding before the family moved to Abbess Roding. They had seven children, one of which, James, born 1836, moved to Romford and married a Jane WHEAL in 1859 at Dagenham.
Jane was born in 1837 in Romford Workhouse, the illigitimate daughter of Sarah DISS originally from Halstead and John WHEAL who died before 1851 in Romford.
By 1881 James and Jane were living in Market Place Romford. They had ten children, one of which was Robert, my 2x great grandfather.
Robert married Emma HEARD of Takeley. They had eight children and lived in Marks Road Romford most of their life. Both are buried in Crow Lane cemetery.
Robert John Claydon was born in 1885, son of Robert and Emma Heard. Robert John married Esther WATLING in 1905 at St. Andrews Romford. They had eleven children, one of which was my grandfather Percy, who was born in 1910 but died in 1985.
I have a lot of info on the family (see The Shuttle Family Web-Page) but would like to hear from other members of the families.
