Romford Now & Then Glimpses of the Past in the Present

My grandfather was Harry Aubrey CLARKE who may have been born in 1883. He married Edith Gertrude POOLE on Xmas Day 1904 at St Andrews Romford. I believe he owned one or more butchers shops in Romford, possibly one being in South Street. He was a pigeon fancier and he was used by the Armed Forces in WW1 to supply carrier pigeons. He died in December 1945 aged 62 in Chipping Ongar. I have copies of his marriage and death certificates but cannot find any trace of his birth. His father was also Harry and a butcher but was described as deceased on Harry Aubrey's marriage certificate. I know nothing of any siblings and none of his surviving children can tell me anything about him, a man of mystery! If anybody has any information I would be absolutely thrilled.
