Harriett ran a cycle shop in High Street for about 20 years after the death of her husband, Frederick Rowswell, in 1914.

Fred and Hartie's eldest son, Fred, became a school master at Brentwood Grammar School for Boys. He was also a scout master there, and at St. Michael's, in Gidea Park, from 1933 until 1968. There is a scouting hall at St. Michael's named after him. There are probably many men today that remember Fred as "Skipper".

This photograph and information was kindly provided by Winifred's daughter, Cherry Forray.
