This panorama was taken from the eastern end of Market Place in January 2001.  (Unfortunately unfavourable lighting conditions mean that the quality is rather poor.  I hope to produce a better panorama later in the year.)

You start by looking down the market.1  Immediately in front of you is the subway exit from Ludwigshafen Place.  To the left is the entrance to Laurie Walk, leading into The Liberty shopping centre.  Further down on the left is Debenhams department store.  On the right is the spire of St. Edward's church, and further up the Rumford Shopping Hall.

Turning to your right the view is obscured by the "temporary" toilets at the top of the market.  The area immediately in front of these was once occupied by the Laurie Hall.

Continuing round, you are looking along  St. Edward's Way, with Park End Road beyond.  Then comes the Central Library, and next to that, set back from the road, the Town Hall.

In the middle of the roundabout is Ludwigshafen Place, and beyond, through the trees, Main Road.

To the left of the roundabout, on the corner of Main Road and Mercury Gardens, is the mothballed Dolphin leisure centre.   Extending down the north side of Mercury Gardens, is the Liberty 2 shopping centre.

The tower block opposite the Liberty 2 is Mercury House council offices, which is served by the multi-storey car park on the corner of Market Place.

Display a map showing the location from which this panorama was taken.

1 If not using the viewer, the market is a little over half-way way across the panorama.
