This panorama was taken from the Mercury Gardens / Western Road roundabout in October 2000.
You start by looking towards Sainsbury's supermarket and the Liberty 2 Shopping Centre, on the eastern side of Mercury Gardens.1
Turning to your right you are looking up Western Road, away from the town centre. On the right-hand corner is the Liberty Bell Travel Inn.
Continuing round, you are looking down Mercury Gardens, and may be able to make out the bridge which carries the railway over the ring-road.
On the western side of Mercury Gardens, opposite the Liberty Bell, are the offices of the Aon Group Ltd. With these offices on your left you are looking down Western Road, towards the town centre and South Street.
The area to the right of Western road is occupied by the original Liberty shopping centre, and on the corner is one of the multi-storey car parks which serves it.
Continuing round to look up Mercury Gardens, the tower block on the western side, opposite the Liberty 2, is Mercury House council offices.
