The southern side of High Street, looking east towards the Golden Lion crossroads (date unknown).1

Much of the view is occupied by the Victorian brewery frontage.

To the west of the brewery, closest to the camera, are two shops - Smith & Balderson (High Class Provisions) at no. 25 High Street, and H. Prior & Co. (Wholesale & Retail Tobacconists) at no. 27.¹

Beyond the brewery, towards the far left of the picture, it is just possible to make out the gables of the rebuilt White Hart.
