Coronation Gardens were created in 1953 from the grounds of the old Romford cemetery.1

Some of the old memorial stones remain at the back of the gardens, behind a row of trees.  These include a memorial to members of the Black family, who once owned Gidea Hall.

At the centre of the gardens is the Romford War Memorial.
