At the near end, part of the Charity School extension of 1834 can be seen.  To its right, hoardings surround the area where a Georgian house (No. 108) once stood, and between them is the narrow entrance to Mercury Gardens.2   To the right of the hoardings is Harry's Cycles (Nos. 104-106), and then H. H. Green & Co. Estate Agents.  The three storey building next door is Stone's department store.  On the other side of the road, opposite Harry's Cycles, part of the Laurie Hall can be seen through the trees.
