On the south side of the road sheep are held in pens formed from wooden hurdles, whilst on the north side iron railings form permanent stalls for the cattle.
The building closest to the camera is the Romford Club and Institute,2 and at the far (western) end stands the old court house and gaol of the Liberty of Havering.
