The view from Park Drive towards North Street, across the allotments that would later become the site of the North Street (NS) bus garage, July 1947.1

The photographer was standing opposite to what is now the exit to the garage. In the background can be seen a couple of G class (Guys) double-deckers on the stand in North Street. These buses, manufactured during WW11, were of a utility design and very basic in construction and finish. Mike Leahy, who kindly supplied this photograph, remembers some of them with wooden slatted seats and being painted a brown colour (as it was impossible to get hold of red paint).
