To the left of the picture two men chat beneath a sign for a 'Hair Cutting and Shaving Saloon'. A little further along a shop advertises 'Fresh Supplies [Daily]'. The tall building next door is the old post office, before it moved down the street.1 Across the road is 'W. Wallis Furniture.'
