The school was built for the Romford School Board in 18832 and opened a year later.  It was enlarged in 1890 and 1903, and a handicraft centre was opened in 1913.   The mixed department was reorganized for juniors in 1930 and amalgamated with the infants department in 1952.3

Albert Road was renamed Manor school in 1956,3 and moved to new buildings in Shaftesbury Road in 1979.4
