Romford Now & Then Glimpses of the Past in the Present

Bower Park school was opened in 1949 as Chase Cross secondary modern. It originally occupied the building intended for the new Gobions primary school. The boys department was completed in 1950. In 1955, when the girls building was completed, the school was reorganised for boys and girls separately. The schools were enlarged in 1962 and 1964. In the 1970 the boys and girls schools were again amalgamated, and in 1973 the school became comprehensive.1

I am told that the school became Bower Park in 1989 when Mr. Peter Davis took over as head.
