The following is the text of a plaque commemorating the opening of St. Edward's C of E Primary school, Havering Drive in October 1976:1

This plaque was unveiled on the 13th October 1976
by the Rt Revd John Trillo, Bishop of Chelmsford,
to commemorate the opening of this building which
was made possible by:
The foresight of the School Managers
The co-operation of Havering Education Authority
The dedication of the staff, and
The outstanding generosity of the Parents.

The plaque hangs in the school foyer.  Outside the foyer a stone commemorating the building of the school is built into the wall to the left of the foyer entrance.
