Craddocks was located next to the Police Station, and claimed to be "ROMFORD'S leading GIFT STORE", with "Fountain Pens...China & Glass...Leather Goods...Toys...Art Department...Model Railways".

Past resident Terry Mercer recalls: "Next to the old Police Station opposite Western Road was Craddocks shop which I suppose was a stationers.  The shop directly on South Street had a wonderful range of fountain pens, propelling pencils and those new fangled "Biros".  At the back in Craddocks Arcade was their art department where I bought watercolour paint boxes and craved a very large box of Cumberland Derwent coloured pencils."
