This advert for S. J. Davis, "Builder, Contractor, Undertaker and Monumental Mason", comes from the April 1951 issue of the Good Shepherd Review church magazine.1

The business was started by Samuel Davis, who was also responsible for organising the Romford fire brigade.   It's location at 35 Mawney Lane was opposite the rear entrance to the old fire station.
