A medal awarded to the runners-up in the Brentwood Charity Shield, 1927-8.1,2  This was Brooklands, who lost to Newbury Park Old Boys 3-2.3  The following match report comes from the Romford Times:

Newbury Park Old Boys 3, Brooklands 2.  -- These teams met in the final of the Brentwood Charity Shield on the ground of the Depot Essex Regt. on Thursday, when an excellent game was witnessed.  At one time Newbury Park were leading 2-0 but Brooklands reduced the lead and then equalised.  The winning goal was put through in the last minute of the game.  The shield and medals were presented by Councillor Stevens, who appealed for more support for the competition.2

1 Reproduced by kind permission of George Rose, to whose father (also called George) the medal was awarded.
2 The medal is inscribed 'B. C. S. RUNNERS-UP 1927-8'.  This is almost certainly the Brentwood Charity Shield, since George's father played for Brooklands, who were runners-up in that final.
