Note the horse cabs awaiting the arrival of a train, and the long slope up the earth bank which gave access to the platform. Much of this open space was lost when the line was widened to four tracks in 1930.3
The sign at the left of the picture declares: GREAT EASTERN RAILWAY. TO DOWN TRAINS FOR SOUTHEND, CHELMSFORD, COLCHESTER, IPSWICH, YARMOUTH, LOWESTOFT, NORWICH AND CROMER.
